Affordable Aerial and Movement Arts
Ringstar Studio was founded in 2013 by Diane Barbeau as a new home for the Ring of Steel Action Theatre, now the studio’s in-house stage combat group. Since the troupe only needed the space a few hours a week, this presented both a dilemma and a great opportunity. Development on Ringstar as a business unto its own began immediately. Since then it has blossomed into the versatile and supportive movement arts facility it is today.
Our mission is create space for aerial and movement arts that is high quality and affordable. Money should not stand in the way of being able to learn how to move your body. To that end, we are happy to offer a number of low cost and/or free programs throughout the year, such as donation-based Candlelight Labyrinths and $5 Open Gyms; and we strive to keep our class prices below industry standard.
We are also a place of connection. Dozens of people and organizations have utilized our space to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, as well as to hold events both private and public. We even transform into a theater for Halloween. And our classes are run in a supportive and friendly atmosphere, encouraging the building of friendships that go far beyond class time.
It is our pleasure to add to the uniqueness of Ann Arbor and the surrounding areas by spreading the love of circus, martial arts, theater, yoga, and all sorts of movement disciplines.
